This log describes the changes made to the book since its original release. The document is up to date as of the version released on June 1, 2025 (monthly update #120). We release an updated version monthly, usually on the first of the month.

7 (SharePoint Online)August 2024 (110): New “Everyone except external users” reports are available in the Data Access Governance reports section in the SharePoint Online Admin center. All SharePoint Online sharing links now support expiration dates.
September 2024 (111): New OneDrive accounts report to audit accounts that have been in an unlicensed state for more than 90 days. Updated info on Restricted Access Controls (RAC) for SharePoint sites to reflect latest enhancements added: Configure custom “learn more” links, RAC for SharePoint insights through specific PowerShell cmdlets.
October 2024 (112): Added a new section to describe new resharing experience when using sharing links with view-only permissions. We can create custom colors and custom themes in the Brand Center that can be later applied in existing SharePoint sites and Viva Connections Experiences. Enabling a sensitivity label in a Document Library is no longer a Microsoft Syntex SAM feature. Approvals integration with Microsoft Lists is available to any list type including custom lists.
November 2024 (113): SharePoint eSignature is available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and a set of European Countries. The publication of new InfoPath forms will be disabled after December 20, 2024, in tenants with no detected usage of the InfoPath forms service. OneDrive sync client shows a specific prompt when a user accidentally deletes shared files. Updated search reports details in Microsoft Search Insights.
December 2024 (114): Site owners can also create custom themes and font packages to customize a site. Provide the details of the 3rd Data Access governance report included in SharePoint Advanced Management.
January 2025 (115): New management options added to SharePoint Embedded Containers administration in the SharePoint Admin Center. SharePoint eSignature is coming to Australia Pacific. Added a section to talk about SharePoint Agents in SharePoint Sites. Incorporated new SharePoint Advanced Management features: Manage site ownership policies, Generate AI Insights for SharePoint Advanced Management, Oversharing baseline report, Enterprise app insights, Restrict content discovery and Restrict site creation.
February 2025 (116): From January 6, 2025, through June 30, 2025, organizations with 50 or more Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses can extend trial access to Agents in SharePoint to users without a Copilot license. Microsoft Syntex structured and freeform document processing included in Microsoft Syntex Pay as you go.
March 2025 (117): SharePoint Pages can also be created with Microsoft Copilot. SharePoint Spaces to be retired from SharePoint Online starting May 10, 2025, and ending August 25, 2025. Microsoft lists display in real-time collaborators in a list. This real time feature in Microsoft lists can be disabled at the Site level. Conditional branching in custom lists forms allows users to define more dynamic forms in Microsoft lists. Added search verticals available in the SharePoint search results what includes the addition of the Messages search vertical. Data access governance reports can also be generated and managed through PowerShell.
April 2025 (118): Loop collaboration settings must be enabled for the Teams Facilitator agent to work. The Get-SPOCopilotPromoUsage cmdlet allows SharePoint Admins to review usage data for SharePoint Agents trial features. Naming convention for folder shortcuts: To help users to quickly identify the source of a folder shortcut, folder shortcuts include the site name or user’s OneDrive in the shortcut name. Microsoft 365 Apps will prompt users to back up their files in Microsoft OneDrive.
May 2025 (119): API access page updates to display a set of permissions pre-authorized by Microsoft that are required for SharePoint Online to function properly. EEEU sharing permission removal from root web and default document library to OneDrive between 10th of April and 30th September 2025. New Quick steps feature in SharePoint lists and Document libraries to automate tasks on documents and list items. Admins can limit the Sites and OneDrive accounts where Syntex OCR is turned on.
June 2025 (120): Storage in use in SharePoint Online can be monitored by means of the Storage in use card available in the SharePoint Online Admin Center home page.  Admins can manage and enumerate archived SharePoint Embedded containers in the SharePoint Online Admin Center. A sensitivity label can be applied in bulk to several sites in the active sites view in the SharePoint Online Admin Center. SharePoint Agents reports provide insights about Agents created in the last day, 7 days, 14 days or 28 days.

11 (Teams)August 2024 (110): Minor changes related to the Connectors retirement. It is now possible to rename the General channel in a team.

November 2024 (113): Teams has a new calendar app based on the UI in OWA and the new Outlook.
February 2025 (116): Teams avatars can now be created from a photo or image captured from a PC camera. Added section about voice and face profiles. Video clips are now supported for posting to channel posts and replies.
March 2025 (117): Notification messages can be customized to appear at different screen locations.
April 2025 (118): Skype consumer is deprecated, so any reference to federation with Skype consumer is removed. Meeting attendance reports are now subject to a one-year retention policy. The Files channel tab is renamed to be “Shared.”  *** Need updated figure. The hide inactive channels feature is being made into an opt-in feature and its deployment has halted.
May 2025 (119): A new option to create channels is available in the New Items menu.
June 2025 (120): Added note about the Discover feed. Video clips can now be up to five minutes long.
12 (Managing Teams)August 2024 (110): Office Connectors for Teams are retired from 15 August 2024. ACM (Application centric management) will replace app permission policies.
September 2024 (111): When you create a new team from scratch, you nominate the name of the first channel. It can’t be General. Added section about Advanced Collaboration Analytics.
October 2024 (112): Further changes related to federated chat.
December 2024 (114): Added note that Teams compliance records can be fetched and analyzed using Graph APIs.
January 2025 (115): Added note about the Teams Inference and Evaluation policy.

Automating Microsoft 365 with PowerShell eBookAugust 2024 (2.0): Added new details about connecting to the SharePoint Online management module. Rewrote the section about finding managers for user accounts. Many small corrections and updates throughout.
September 2024 (3.0): Added details about finding real (human-used) accounts with the Graph SDK. Added details about the Set-MgRequestContext cmdlet. Added section about dealing with Microsoft Lists using Graph SDK cmdlets. Added a bunch of new content covering access to mailbox content.
October 2024 (4.0): Many new or refined examples throughout the book including how to find messages in mailboxes based on recipients, how to interpret sharing information for documents, and so on.
